Small objects in terracotta, characterized by bright colors and shapes, whistles created with clay arise as a pastime for poor children but soon assume a cultural value, magical and symbolic. Local tradition has it that the 17 January, on the occasion of the Feast of Sant'Antonio Abate, man presents a whistle to his beloved woman as a "token of love" and a symbol of lasting union-fertility and virility.

The tradition is now continuity in the event exhibition of great success which the Fair Whistle, which takes place in the second half of January in the streets of Rutigliano.
