Cagliari
On the occasion of the Feast of Saint Efisio, celebrated by 1 al 4 May, Cagliari is crossed by a procession of 3500 People in traditional clothes, coming from every place in Sardinia. They followed more than two hundred knights, the Campidanesi, the militiamen and Guardiania. A meeting of colors, morals, sound of launeddas s is goccius, devotional songs.
They recall the story of the beginning of the fourth century of the holy warrior and melts the perpetual vow to him addressed during the plague of 1652. A whole island stops to repeat a ritual along nearly four centuries: a majestic procession 65 kilometres, one of the oldest and longest in the world, that touches the soul of anyone I immersed, passionate about the Sardinians who live forever and thousands of atmosphere of passion kidnapped tourists. They take away with them unmistakable frames and unforgettable moments.
The procession starts at noon from the narrow streets of the historic district of Stampace. The parade strutting on a colorful carpet of pink flowers, Red and yellow and perfumes: It is the ritual of ramadura. Start a journey into the culture of a people of faith and authenticity. The magic hovers over the city: the creaking of traccas, the carts decorated with flowers and fruit, and the songs of brotherhoods accompany the chariot, pulled by two oxen adorned with horns of wreaths. The route winds its way from the place of imprisonment of up to that of martyrdom, Nora Beach, where stands the Romanesque church dedicated to the saint. Many milestones: the first day to the churches of Georgie and su Act (Capoterra), then Villa d'Orri. The second day, after the night spent in Sarroch, stop in Villa San Pietro and arrival in Pula. Return, the 4 May in the late evening, after various celebrations. Upon returning Stampace, alleys and streets are full of new thousands of faithful, that at the end of the celebrations are left with a wish: a dark year!
