How to: visit the district Trulli. Continue the story of A&A Travel on Trulli of Alberobello.

Well. Now that we arrived in Alberobello we wonder: where are the trulli?

Although they see several scattered along the way to reach the village, certainly not about those become part of the heritage of humanity.

They are leased in a specific district of the country, the district mountains or trulli, precisely. The district is located in the southern area of the country and is well signposted, It will not struggle to get there once you reach the country. Given the huge tourist flow, the municipality has used many nearby parking areas, so do not be afraid to reach this goal with your car or motorcycle.

To begin with the discovery of this wonderful heritage, we recommend from Largo Martellotta.

Why we recommend it? Because here you will be exactly in the center of the district, surrounded by trulli 360 °.

The east of the Largo area begins with a staircase that leads straight to a terrace where you can admire the entire west side of the trulli district, until you see through the trees the famous trulli church of St. Anthony (there will be discussed later). subsequently, along a small little park, continue towards the area less commercial ward, In fact you will find mainly inhabited trulli by local elders. Given the more narrow, winding streets with respect to the opposite side of the ward, this area was often used as a film set for some scenes soap opera, as more “typical”. We choose to reach the Largo again, so you can reach the western area, passing through the small park.

The western area, against, is the area that presents more businesses, mostly scattered along the 5 main routes that all start from Largo Martellotta: Via Monte Nero, Via Monte San Marco, Via Monte San Gabriele and the junction with Via Monte San Michele, Via Monte Sabotino and Via Monte Santo.

The main structures of this district are two: the Siamese Trullo and Trullo church of St. Anthony. Siamese trulli owes its name to its particular structure: It presents a more oval and wide body, such being a bivano, and it has two conical roofs instead of one single. It is located between Via Monte Nero (from which we recommend you leave for your tour) and Via Monte San Gabriele. From here we recommend you go to Via Monte San Michele to achieve the typical trullo church of St. Anthony.

The trullo church of St. Anthony has a unique style: fully echoes the colors and style of the trulli, with fully colored facade in white and with conical domes tufa, that refer to the roofs of the trulli. Internally it turns out to be very small and intimate, maybe even a little’ rural. It too was a film set for international soap opera.

From here you can complete your visit to the ward through Via Monte Sabotino and Via Monte Santo.

After the visit of the district, if your desire to Trulli is not satisfied, from the opposite side of Alberobello is present sovereign trullo: a trullo forming part of a small cluster that owes its name to the greater dimension than the other area of the trulli. It is located behind the Basilica of Saints Cosma and Damiano, compound previously more Trulli then, over time, unified and seems to be attributable to a trullo '600.
