An itinerary to visit Ragusa and its surroundings
Visit the South-eastern Sicily and in particular Ragusa it's a good idea.
Ragusa is a city with an enchanting historic center: is the quintessence of Baroque.
But it is not only Ragusa to be visited as the wonders of this area are many. This corner of Sicily is beautiful and there is a need to visit it far and wide for a longer period and not with a visit. “running away and running away”!
South-eastern Sicily
Stroll through Ragusa and its surroundings, it would take many days, and the itinerary that I am offering will make all tourists' eyes shine.
We begin our journey full of fun but above all knowledge of the area:
- Modica: it is the home of chocolate. The city develops in: Modica Alta, where is the Church of San Giorgio, and Modica Bassa, where is there Cathedral of San Pietro. You also have to spend hours in Corso Umberto I: here there are many bars and also some famous chocolate workshops. It would also be appropriate to go and visit the Chocolate museum which is located in Modica Alta but it is also wonderful to spend a day at Don Puglisi laboratory: who, in addition to chocolate, you will also find delicious desserts. The workshop was created to help girls in difficulty who are guests of the family home: over time it has become an excellence in the city and its chocolate is exported all over the world;
- Donnalucata: it is located on the sea, is a fraction of Scicli and is the “city of Montalbano”. On this stretch there are many beaches with very fine sand while in the village you can enjoy a nice walk along the promenade. Donnalucata is famous because she was the protagonist of the television series of Commissioner Montalbano;
- Scicli: it is a small treasure to be seen in any case. It is a small town but with a crazy historic center: it is such a wedding favor that it has become UNESCO World Heritage Site from the 2002. Here you can visit them: City Palace, Palazzo Beneventano, the Church of Santa Maria la Nova, the Church of San Giovanni Evangelista;
- Palazzolo Acreide: it is not very well known but very very beautiful…a real gem! This country contains the most beautiful Baroque churches as the Church of San Paolo, the mother church it is to Church of the Annunciation.
Conclusions
In Sicily, there are many cities not known because unfortunately, in a wonderful land full of history and art, the small realities are put aside a little to make way for more excellent and mass tourism.
But they are there and must be absolutely visited!
Weapons and baggage e…Have a good trip!
