Matera – The streets of the mountain

Starting from Matera, Basentana through the highway you will reach San Mauro Forte, country that renews an archaic folk-ritual: "The Cowbell". Leaving the country, in the direction of state 277, you reach Accettura, known for the feast of the "May".

Beyond Accettura, along the former state 277 and former state road 103 meets Stigliano, where to act as a master, there are the Church of the Assumption and the remains of the Castle. After the town, advancing to the former state road 103 a 14 kilometres, Cirigliano you get to where you can admire the Feudal Palace and the Church of the Assumption Mother.

Nearby is really impressive the Chapel of the Madonna della Grotta. Continuing the provincial, former state 103, a 6 km you arrive in Gorgoglione, called "the little city of stone" because the stone is the most important natural resource.
